All inclusive bathroom remodeling

Creating dream bathroom that last

Today’s construction and remodeling market is becoming more intense. It’s overflooded with options, new materials and techniques are introduced daily. At times, it feels like we have so many options to choose from that we are not sure if we can make the right choice. The process of choosing, ordering, and delivering products has changed drastically. The recent pandemic heavily influenced how we perform on the market. IT technologies are pushing the web to the limits. New search protocols simplify the choosing for us, throwing the most suitable goods on a table. Nevertheless, for most people the task of preparation and ordering materials is proving to be daunting. It does not come by surprise though, because there are so many details that must not be overlooked.

At the end you may ask yourself, "How do I find people that will deliver a quality, reliable bathroom remodel near me at a fair price?"  9999Bathroom.com is your answer and we would be very happy to be given the chance to earn your trust as well as provide references.

With so many remodeling companies performing on the market there are several who stand by their work. The intensity of the remodeling market and it’s over crowdedness bring changes that are not necessarily good. The price goes down, which can be seen as a positive tendency, but if you consider that the actual quality of work is going down, you can surely say that it is not a good change. Of course, to understand quality, one should have something to compare with. For an average consumer, it can be hard to even interpret quality. What is it? Does it look good? Can those guys do it better? What is important for you?

 HALF BATHROOM REMODELING

What is considered a half a bathroom?

A half bathroom is a bathroom that does not contain a bath or a shower, just a toilet and sink

What is the purpose of a half bathroom?

A half bath is a room with two out of the four elements roomed (oftentimes the shower and tub). Half baths are often used as guest bathrooms and placed near the dining room or kitchen because a guest would likely only need to use the toilet and wash their hands unless they were staying over.

Why is a half bath called a powder room?

Why do they call it a powder room? This term originated in the 1920s when the mention of women using the bathroom for bodily functions was considered improper, so they would say that they are going to use the powder room instead of the restroom.

What does 3/4 of a bathroom mean?

Three-Quarter Bath
A three-quarter bathroom will have three of the four key components. Most commonly, these rooms will include a toilet, sink, and a shower stall without a bathtub (or in some cases, a bathtub without a shower)

As opposed to a traditional full bath, a three-quarter bath is usually characterized by an efficient combination of standing shower, sink and toilet. This simple but useful design is often used for guest bathrooms, and it can add tremendous utility and value to your home.

What is considered full bathroom?

While a powder room or half bath has two of the four main bathroom components, a full bathroom will have all four: a toilet, sink, tub and shower (or a tub-shower combo). It is usually situated adjacent to a master bedroom

What is a master bathroom?

Bathrooms are generally categorized as "master bathroom", containing a shower and a bathtub that is adjoining to the largest bedroom; a "full bathroom" (or "full bath"), containing four plumbing fixtures: a toilet and sink, and either a bathtub with a shower, or a bathtub and a separate shower stall.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BATHROOM?

Measure the length in feet, Measure the width in feet. Multiply the length figure by the width figure. This will be your total square footage for that portion of your project.

how to measure your bathroom

To calculate room square footage, first measure the dimensions of your space. The two dimensions to measure are the length and width of the area you need to calculate.

  • To find length, locate the longest side of the area to be measured.

  • Fix a tape measure or other measuring tool to one end of the length and extend it to the other end.

  • Record the measurement.

  • To find the width, locate the shortest side of the area to be measured. Repeat the process and record that measurement.

The next step in how to calculate square footage is to plug your measurements into the square footage formula: L x W = A (in square feet).
To find square feet, multiply the length measurement in feet by the width measurement in feet. This yields a product called the area, which is expressed in square feet (or square inches if you are calculating a much smaller space, such as a dollhouse).
For example, if you are buying carpet for a room that is 12-feet long and 10-feet wide, multiply the two dimensions:

10 ft. x 5 ft. = 50 sq. ft.

Step-by-Step process:

Step 1 – Demolishing Your Old Bathroom

Many consider demolition to be the most exciting part of the bathroom remodeling process. However, taking it up without proper planning can prove to be disastrous.

First of all, ensure that you disconnect the room’s electricity and water supply to the toilet, sink, shower, and bathtub. Take care not to damage any features that you will undoubtedly need later on.

While taking down the wall tile, take particular care not to damage the underlying piping or wiring in the walls. Carefully remove the toilet and sink without breaking them apart, and be sure to check for water damage and the growth of molds or mildew underneath. Remove baseboards, towel racks, lighting fixtures, and all other accessories from the bathroom.

Step 2 – Make Plumbing Adjustments

Once you’ve exposed all the square footage of your bathroom, start plumbing for new fixtures. Replace the toilet flange and put up a new bathtub or shower.

Install a water line extension for dual shower heads, or replace shower controls for your shower head. Attend any plumbing modifications required for installing another sink for a double vanity or compressing vanities to one sink.

Step 3 – Attend to the Electrical Work

Now that the walls are open, reworking the bathroom’s electrical wiring should be much more comfortable than before. You can try replacing 15-amp wiring with a 20-amp circuit. That will help you use appliances like hair dryers much more efficiently in your bathroom.

You can also install or relocate more outlets now and light switches as well. For instance, GFCI receptacles can come in handy for outlets present near water. This will help everything go along much better with your new vanity.

Step 4 – Install Blocking for Grab Bars

With your bathroom walls open, you can now add blocking between wall studs. Doing that will provide additional support for your grab bars. If you are not planning to include them in this bathroom remodeling process, you can go for alternatives. For example, having solid material for securing these safety features at the tub, shower stall, and toilet can help you conserve time later.

Step 5 – Close the Walls

You can then put up a vapor barrier and cement board, and vapor barrier in the tub or shower stall’s moist areas. Cement boards are known to be significantly resistant to moisture. They also provide adequate support to your wall tile. For other walls, you can try going for drywall.

Step 6 – Begin Painting

You should try to choose interior paint with a semi-gloss or satin finish. These are generally quite resistant to the heavy moisture present in the bathroom. We recommend finishing the paint job before you get the tile, vanity, sink, bathtub, and toilet installed. By doing that, you can decrease the risk of paint splattering on your brand new flooring or fixtures.

Step 7 – Put Up the Tiles

Proceeding with the bathroom remodeling process, you can now start installing the tile. First of all, tile the bathtub enclosure or shower walls before moving to other areas of your bathroom remodel. After putting up the wall tile, attend to the floor tile. Moreover, you can use grout for both of them but caulk the corners. You can find grout is available in a wide range of colors. It will help you enhance or itself become part of your bathroom’s aesthetics.

Step 8 – Put Up the Shower Door

Once you’ve installed the bathroom tile during your bathroom remodel, you can proceed to put up the track, the shower curtain rod, or the door for your shower enclosure. Make sure you choose a good shower door that goes well with the overall look of your bathroom remodel.

Step 9 – Install the Exhaust Fan and Lights

At this point, you can hook up and install the wall lighting and ceiling lights. After that, turn your attention to the exhaust fan and get it connected correctly.

Step 10 – Install the Sink and Other Fixtures

You can now move the sink and vanity into their respective places. After that, proceed to hook up the plumbing to your new fixtures. You can then move onto one of the most awaited steps in the bathroom remodeling process – installing the toilet. In fact, it is one of the most straightforward steps in your project. If you are confident enough, you can even go for a DIY approach and save money on this step. Finally, round up the bathroom remodeling process by installing light switch plates, shelving, towel bars, and other items you need in the bathroom.

7 Mistakes Not to Make in Your Bathroom Remodel

Whether you are just replacing an outdated vanity or renovating the entire space, bathroom remodeling can be an expensive proposition. Read on to find out the 7 most common mistakes made during a bathroom renovation and how you can avoid them in your own home.

Ignoring the Bathroom Fan

Don't forget about this often-overlooked feature: an appropriately sized bathroom exhaust fan. Without proper ventilation, humidity gets trapped in the enclosed space. Over time, this moist environment becomes the perfect home for mold and mildew, and allows paint, grout, and metal to deteriorate. Whether you already have a fan or add one in your renovation, make sure to vacuum the vent clean of construction dust and debris before switching the fan on in your updated space.

Lacking a Clear Plan

Planning is everything! Instead of discovering your bathroom's specific needs after you've already ripped out the toilet, make a plan that takes into account precise measurements, anticipated cost, all materials, and your own personal taste. Map out your plan for any family members or contractors who will be helping you with the remodel.

Improper Spacing

If your plan for your bathroom renovation focuses on looks rather than function, that's a big problem. Leave the decorating for later and think about the layout and spacing first. If you're breaking down walls and moving plumbing fixtures, you'll not only want to make sure the new layout satisfies building codes for minimal spacing guidelines, but also be certain that the placement of fixtures and furnishings allows for comfortable everyday use.

Choosing the Wrong Materials

Bathrooms undergo some serious stress—from high moisture levels to quick temperature shifts. To prevent warped or mildewed floors, walls, or vanities, you'll want to choose materials designed specifically for the bathroom. When you're spending lots of money to redo your space, it's important to know that your wallpaper can survive high humidity and your wood vanity will stand the test of time.

Being Unrealistic About a Budget

Be honest about the budget. If you have only a limited amount of money to work with, stick to what you can afford. If you overspend, you'll have to cut corners somewhere and won't be pleased with the results. Extra costs do arise, however, so err on the safe side by budgeting an extra 15 to 20 percent for surprise expenditures.

Overlooking Small Mistakes

Small glitches in a new tile job or a gap in a bathroom vanity might seem minor, but even the smallest errors will become eyesores down the line. As your renovation progresses, always fix mistakes, even the smallest ones. Don't persuade yourself to overlook work that's been done wrong—if you notice it now, you'll see it every time you use the space.

Losing Focus Toward the End

Any renovation is exciting in the beginning, but hard work and long hours cause most people to lose a little steam. If you're so eager to see the completed room that you start rushing, you can burn out. Instead, move at a steady pace at the beginning, then slow down at the end to be sure everything is done correctly. Patience definitely pays off.
